Florence Cats is an artist, musician, curator and acupuncturist.
She plays the theremin in experimental ways by interacting with light, water, metal, radio, space and context.
Her compositions include piano, theremin, voice and field recording.
She released "Ys" on the ediçoes CN label, "Correspondances" on frissons-cassettes, is as a member "Circular Music" on d'Insub and
"The Asocial Telepathic Ensemble" on corvo records.
Through radio, publishing, music, film, performance and exhibitions, and through underground, hybrid and institutional initiatives - her transversal work has been presented at Radiophrenia (Glasgow), ETE78 (Brussels), L’Academia Belgica (Rome), PAS (Berlin), Occii (Amsterdam), the Minard Theatre (Ghent), Stuk (Leuven), Q-O2 (Brussels), among others.
As musician she is involved in projects that oscillate between improvisation, contemporary music, experimental music and sound art.
In 2023 she was selected as emerging sound artist (BE).
In 2024 she founds the "eye.ear" cycle.
She collaborates with Clara Lévy (sonic weather station), Diana Duta (Like), Brandon Labelle (Correspondances, The Asocial Telepathic Ensemble), Joseph Hogan (Lavori in Corso, autostop en Islande...), Julie Krakowski (Incantations), among others.
She is co-author of several books (primitive press).
